Conversations to Have with your Parents Over the Holidays
This is a great way to gauge how your parents feel about downsizing. While it is difficult for many seniors to imagine leaving their long-time home, they may no longer be able to take care of everyday chores and tasks without assistance.
While your parents might be likely to offer a general timeline, it is important to help them establish a specific goal. Encourage them to make the move sooner rather than later. Too often seniors wait until an accident happens to make their move.
Assisted Living communities can offer as much or as little support as your parents need — while still maintaining the freedom that comes with “Independent Living.” Some communities have several different levels of living including Memory Support that your parents can easily transition into if their needs should change.
